Watch your bill and your credit card statement! They ‘accidentally‘ put extra drinks on your bill, and then double charge the more often than any other bar or restaurant I have ever dealt with.

This place is awful! The music was way too loud...we could not even hear each other. What is the deal with the separate dancing room? YIKES! This seems to be more like a meat market than a local neighborhood bar. I didn‘t really pay attention to the staff....other than all of them texting behind the bar....but the whole ambiance of the place. I am not sure I understand the TVs in the dance room. They were all playing a silhouette of a naked girl dancing....what is that supposed to do? Encourage people to dance.....or.......??? I will not be returning. It is too bad that it wasn‘t a nice bar that played local music and people could just hang.

Stop in once a month. This place is a good time. I understand they are busy so waiting for a drink is fine with me. The staff has a good time, and alway‘s treat me well when I am there. Can‘t make everyone happy all the time. But they do a good job with me. Thanks

When this place first opened, the service and cleanliness were top drawer. Now, it is a fallen star. The service is horrible and the floors so sticky you will want to throw your shoes away after walking on them.
What a shame that this place has lost itself so completely. I don‘t know what happened, but I can tell you it was a well oiled machine when Angela was there. Where is Angela?

Best bar in south Lincoln. The expanding beer selection is great and the staff are top notch. I love going to this bar. Keep up the great work!

this place is the worst bar in lincoln. the service is terrible. the management is worse. when bad service is reported the management/owner isn‘t wiling to do anything. spend your money somewhere else.

Service sucks at this place, they need another 2-3 waiters in this bar to even come close to getting you service

Service was awful. It got worse at the night progressed. Waitress had to be cornered at the bar numerous times to address drink orders, and bills to no avail. A conference with the manager was less fruitful. The owner eventually came out, and was even less cordial. I will never patronize this bar again.

Service was horrible last weekend. I will go somewhere else.

This bar is for people who are 40 plus who think they look like they are 21 years old, service sucked, and lacks environment.

This is one of the classiest bars around. I‘ve been a patron ever since Grata opened. I never get anything but fast, friendly, consistent and correct service, and I‘m notoriously picky about my drinks. Weeknights are relaxed and weekends are packed, both things to keep in mind, but both make it a great venue. I assume the negative reviewers have no knowledge of the business, or maybe they‘re social climbers from the area, running on credit but acting the aristocrat. I live in the neighborhood, so I know the demographic. C‘est la vie!

Not good, dont go service is poor and unfriendly

Wow, that‘s all I can say and not in a good way. I‘ve been here during the week and there generally aren‘t a lot of people. In fact it is pretty much a ghosttown for the amount of space they have. Went there late night on a Friday and it was packed, but not in the way I was looking. All of the reviews about not being able to get a drink are spot on. I was there for about 1 hour and only got served once. The people including the staff are rude, the patrons crawl over you to get to the bar if you are sitting there. If I wanted to pretend I was in college still then I would go downtown. Seems like a lot of 40 year old men trying to relive their youth.

A friend of mine knows the owners so I went at his recommendation. I have to echo the comments about poor service. The wait staff doesn‘t feel motivated to earn tips. My heavy tipping to start the night went unnoticed so I won‘t be back. Try Lancaster‘s or even the Fox in the south-south part of town if you want some service.

Very rude bartenders. Never felt welcome by them and service was bad even as the bar sat half full. I would like another bar in the south.

Not quite sure what these previous reviews are talking about. This place has not died off, nor does it have bad service. Its like going to your favorite restaurant at 6pm on a friday, you will have to wait a little, but very worth it. Lincoln people are idiots. They need to get out a little in other cities. Here‘s some clues to a busy, fun bar: door guy, beer cart when you first walk in, good music, hot chicks, good bartenders, and evidentally some bad reviews. Grata has all of this. My advice to those who think they need "now" service on a weekend night, buy 2 drinks and when one is empty, buy another. Wow, thats hard isn‘t it. And now they have 2 bars open on busy nights. This is my favorite place in Lincoln...check it out.

I should have listened to teh comments about service. They are all true. Get some staff that works and your income may go up. It was a new place its died off quite a bit. Go to Lancasters were your welcomed

Worst service I ever experienced at a bar. Not good when two bartenders talk to each other while I am standing at the end of the bar waiting for 10 minutes. See ya and hope you close down

My husband and I didn‘t purchase season Football tickets this year, so we tried out Grata for the first time on Husker Saturday and loved it. Our waitress was spunky, personable, went out of her way to make our experience fun by encouraging us to sing up for raffles and take advantage of the various drink specials. Even after we had paid our bill, she didn‘t ignore us, but would talk to us and make sure we were still being taken care of. The service was excellent and the wine selection was great. The staff at Grata seem to get along really well and always appear to be having a good time in a professional environment. This is always refreshing to see, as it promotes a fun, friendly atmosphere. We‘ll definitely be returning.

This is a sad excuse for a "nice bar". I spend good money and would appreciate some service.

Lucky to get a table on weekends as the place is the most popular bar in south Lincoln. Yes it can be loud, but what do expect in a continually packed house. Customers are clean cut and the women are hot... not to mention the hotty bar maids. Never, I repeat, never, had a hard time keeping a beverage in front of me. I f you prefer ugly chicks and the smell of BO, go to the Red Fox or Lancasters. If you want a good drink while taking in the eye candy in a classy Lounge........go to Grata.

I keep going back for more than one reason. I like knowing what I‘m getting. The bars downtown are full of college kids, and here the crowd is older, more sophisticated. Not sure what happened to the tall dark model of a waitress that used to work there, though. The girls there definitely keep a fellow coming back.

Considering it is on the south side of town in a "well to do" nieghborhood the bar did not meet its expectations. It is too small. The first time I went there I had people literally breathing on my neck because it was shoulder to shoulder. Too many people made it overcrowded and uncomfortable. We left after our first drink. Second time I went there were men wearing baseball hats and hooded sweaters. I think it has potential to entice a good crowd if they would utilize a decent dress code. I will not be going there again and am looking forward to checking out Red Fox that is nearby.

I went to this bar for the first time last weekend. I was hopeful; having heard from numerous friends and others how great it was.
I was less than impressed. The inside of the main room is very small; and definatly wasn‘t built to accomodate the blaring loud music that they play. They should really do something about that; because it sounds terrible.
Yes they do have pool and darts, a smoking area which is great. Their menu is somewhat inovative; but the interior decorating and some of drinks on the menu appear to be cheap copy cat style of Voda.
We were there on a busy Friday night; and had no problem getting a table. I am a patient person when it comes to bartenders and wait staff; but my friend and I sat at our table for 15 minutes before we realized we would have to go to the bar if we wanted another drink. The wait staff; and there were several; were all too busy staring straight ahead and trying to pretend that there were not thirsty people sitting at their tables.
I wish the place luck; but they have some serious changes to think about if they want to succeed.

I have been a patron of this establishment from the very beginning and love this place. I was there this last weekend and the new addition is over the top. It was the best bar in town before, but wait til you see the new side! Keep up the hard work.

I don‘t know where to start. I must say the bar set up is pretty sweet. The service is absolutely awful!!!! I got a table right away on a very busy Friday night, but that was a mistake because I did not get served once by a waiteress from 9pm to 11pm. I had to go to the bar and wait 20 minutes for service from a bartender and carry 3-4 drinks back to my table myself! I guess I should have told the owners so I could get paid $6 an hour. If you decide to go there on a Friday night then I reccommend going to Lancaster‘s where the service is awesome and the drinks are strong. When Red Fox moves south the Grata will just be another bar, and probably out of business within a year.

I don‘t know how you can take a manager from The Grape Vine which has terrific customer service and turn it around 180 degrees at Grata. I blame Ownership/Management. Is it that hard to pay a few more employees $6 per hour so your customers can get service. I would hope the owner would read these and make changes but as of 4-11-08 he hasn‘t. Stay away till they realize they need help

I visited the bar in March. I waited at the bar for service for awhile and did not get noticed or service. I asked one of the cocktail servers to place an order and was told I had to sit at a table to order from them. I also wanted to purchase a gift card, but none of the employees had access to the cards- that does not seem logical.

I should of used this sites advice, I thought I would try it and sure enough it took 15 minutes of standing at the bar till I got my drink. And it didn‘t help that the staff was at the other end talking with each other for 5 minutes of it. Who treats their clients like this. I would give you no stars if it was an option

Great atmosphere and drink selection! Not many establishments are welcoming, but I always have someone saying hello to me as I enter. Keep up the good work!

Grata Bar & Lounge is a great addition to south Lincoln! This city needs more bars/lounges like this one that cater to the 25+ crowd. I think the fact that Grata is expanding after less than a year in business is a testament to how well things are going for them. My friends and I frequent this bar and won‘t stop anytime soon. Sure they have their kinks to work out, but I challenge you to find a newly opened bar that doesn‘t. Great atmosphere, great drink menu, great outdoor patio, friendly management and staff. I can see why Grata has so many regulars!

After reading the reviews, I don‘t think I‘ll be going here! I hope the new Red Fox opens soon! There needs to be some good bars on the South side. Grata, is obviously not one of them!

Harry, make some changes, waiting 20 minutes standing at the bar is ridiculous. Either get out of the biz or hire more staff. Red Fox here I come

I travel a lot and I like bars where you can feel special whether it is your first time in the place or your 7th time this week. Grata is not one of those places. It was recommended by the bartender at the hotel I was staying at, but this place is any place but where a traveler wants to hang out. I walked in and it was busy, but 20 minutes to get a drink is ridiculous. I had one drink because I couldn‘t get a second and getting my credit card back to close my tab was even worse. This place has really sad service standards and is ridiculously loud. I couldn‘t even hear the people next to me as I talked to them.

Great service, atmosphere, beer and cocktail selection. The best South venue period.

Worst place in town!! Horrible service!!

The Grata has so much potential, but unable to satisfy the "normal" customer. If you know any of the staff, they take care of you. I have never been more disrespected in my life on a Wednesday, but then taken care of that Friday. I wish the staff would reflect the same hard work ethics that the owner, Harry Watson has, this place would be great. Expansion will be nice, but a better staff would be great.

Will never go back, I left my tab open on accident and a 25% tip was placed on it. Service is poor and employees act like a party not a bar atmosphere

Very disappointed. Went in there with a large group, opened up a tab at the bar, the waitress asked me if i could transfer to her, fine (terrible watiress by the way). So check my credit card on sunday, the bar has charged the card 9 times to a tune of $230. Will not go back ever! Thank god I dont live in town!

Worst service ever. I takes 30min. to get your drink delivered from the waitress. I have been there 4 times and will not be back. I gave them their shot. Whoever owns this place must not have gone to business school. Anyone can open a bar, not everyone can keep it open. It is nice to have a bar thats not full of crusty rednecks thats not downtown though.

Yeah, this place is a total south lincoln meat market. It is impossible to get a drink, the staff is rude. I heard they are expanding because it is so busy. Maybe they should try staffing up first. Don‘t think they understand what the hospitality business is about and what service should be.

Not the friendly staff I expected, it feels like they are trying to be upper class and don‘t care about a regular joe who wants a drink. I will stick to Lancasters.

This place had the worst service I have seen and it has been open for several months now. The drink are priced high but I expected that since on the south side. And this place needs some type of food to balance out. Probably wont be around long

I was really excited to hear about a new bar on the south side of town, but I‘m not any longer. I‘ve given grata several chances and it just doesn‘t live up to what I‘m looking for. My first few visits were during the week . . .the place was DEAD. Worst part was that the bartenders didn‘t even have enough personality to keep you entertained when it was slow. I decided to try it out a few weekends , and it was a polar opposite, the place is packed. So much so that you can‘t hear anything, even yelling I couldn‘t talk to my buddy. That and it is almost impossible to get a drink. 3 of us got seats at the bar, all with empty drinks, after trying to flag down a bartender forever my friend ordered a drink and tried to order one for us too, but the bartender just moved on. I like the color scheme and the modern feel, but the service and noise levels kill the place.
