Engine House Cafe

We have eaten there many times. Their breakfasts are very tasty. The service is great.

Having lived in Havelock for years, I have seen the Engine House grow, try new items and stay with some that should maybe go by the wayside. That being said, this is a restaurant where the waitresses have been there for years, know almost every customer by name and if you are there for the first time, just sit back and see the relationships the staff has with the customers. If you keep on coming back, you will eventually be one of those customers. The cafe has recently changed hands and what a change! There is such and air of excitement. The new owner is out in the dining room talking to each table. Listening. Observing. And then taking action. Nice change. Please go check it out.

I wouldn‘t hesitate to send anyone here. The majority of my experiences eating here have been over the lunch hour but I‘ve eaten a breakfast or two here as well. I‘ve never walked away disappointed. The service has always been very friendly and eager to make sure you are enjoying your meal. Enjoying your meal is the easy part; I‘ve eaten the meat loaf, the hot beef sandwich, the turkey and mash potatoes, and every piece of pie I can get my hands on. They knock them all out of the park. It is a great place to go to get some nice home cooking. (If you‘re looking for basted duck or some sort of remoulade, you‘ll probably need to go elsewhere; if you want great, affordable food then make this the place.)
